昨天兒子才出生，勇士前鋒格林（Draymond Green）今天就趕回球場救火，並且有5分10籃板12助攻的全面表現，勇士也以119：113擊敗活塞，拿下7連勝。他表示，別的隊友也有孩子，他不能那麼自私。
昨天美國當地時間凌晨3時55分，格林因為兒子出生，向球隊請陪產假，缺席對籃網的比賽。但他只休息一天，就搭乘私人專機趕到底特律助陣，先發上場38分鐘的全隊出賽最長時間，有12助攻、10籃板、5得分的表現，用勝利歡慶兒子誕生。
格林其實可以休假在家陪伴妻兒，而且球團高層及總教練柯爾（Steve Kerr）也有意讓他留在家裡，但他卻決定回到球場。他說：「其他隊友也有孩子都上場比賽，如果我離開就太自私了，何況我的孩子已經平安出生，是返回工作崗位的時候。」
昨天格林得知妻子羊水破了的消息，還在球隊中，準備對籃網之戰，只好馬上跟球隊請假搭機返家。他說：「當時我只想趕快離開紐約，可惜孩子在我搭機起飛前就出生了；不過我很感謝現在的科技，讓我能透過視訊看到生產的一切。」
當孩子出生的那一刻，格林內心非常激動，他說：「那時我興奮地在飛機上大叫，別人可能以為我瘋了，但這是一個很真實的感受，看到孩子出生，感覺很驚人。」而他在飛機上激動的行為，引來空服員關注，只能向對方道歉，解釋經歷的一切。
格林目睹老婆生產過程，就此開拓視野。他還表示，過去當他聽到女生說比男生強時，總會跳出來辯論，認靜電抽油煙機為男生還是比女生強；但自從目睹妻子生產後，觀點就此改變，在這件事情上是無法為男生爭辯。
